Global Entry

A Global Entry is a program administrated by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that provides pre-approved, low-risk travelers with fast and facilitated clearance upon arrival into the United States. Simply said, it allows you to skip the tedious lines at the border entry points and spares you the inconvenience of taking your shoes and belt off or removing your liquids and laptop from your bag in order to pass the TSA PreCheck. Members of the program can use reserved lanes at land crossing or self-serve kiosk at the airports. If entering by water, one can inform the border officials by making a phone call.

Global Entry and NEXUS

Another benefit of the Global Entry card is that it allows members to use the NEXUS lanes when entering the U.S. via land from Canada. Note that, individuals who are not members of NEXUS may not be able to enter Canada through NEXUS lane, even if they possess Global Entry card. All NEXUS members are automatically enrolled in the Global Entry program without any additional costs. The only prerequisite is their 10 fingerprints to be on file with the CBP.
